Childhood Obesity: This site provides parents with a lot of information to help prevent and/or combat obesity that may be affecting their children.
Fuel to Play:
In partnership with the National Dairy Council and the NFL, the Fuel to
Play challenge encourages students to practice healthy eating habits
and an active lifestyle. Participants earn points by tracking their
progress online, taking quizzes, referring friends and completing
activities; the more points a participant has, the higher his or her
chances are of wining awesome prizes.
Kids a Cookin’ and Movin’: This website helps make cooking fun. Aimed at promoting healthy eating, kids are taught how to make easy, nutritious recipes.
Kids in the Kitchen: Kids
in the kitchen is a website that includes nutrition tips, games and
activities for kids and teens in addition to a collection of virtual
recipes from celebrities, local restaurateurs and nutrition experts.
Milk For All Ages: This
is a simple to use tool that allows the user to learn how many servings
of milk, and how much calcium, kids of different age groups need in
order to be at their best. It also provides many useful milk related
tips and explains why milk is essential for that specific age group.
Milk Matters: As
with the last website, this website is dedicated to milk, but it is
geared towards kids. It provides games and activities to inform kids
about calcium and why it is essential for healthy bones and teeth.
Super Kids Nutrition: This site provides nutrition information for children, tweens and teens to promote mindful eating and healthy living habits.
The Taste Buddies:
This website introduces kids to The Taste Buddies-six characters that
specialize in nutrition and fitness. Users are able to explore their
worlds and learn about nutrition, fitness games, growing items to eat
and how to prepare healthy recipes.
Nutrient Roundup:
This interactive game asks kids to choose lunch items and then shows
them how nutrients are taken from each food item and used by the body.
Nutrition Explorations: This site offers interactive nutrition games testing kids’ knowledge of the food groups and food pyramid.
Word Find Game: Sponsored by Dole, this website provides an interactive word game, with all of the words focusing on fruit.
Small Step Kids:
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, this
site, which requires flash, offers kids activities on food and
nutrition.
Calcium Calculator: The Washington Dairy Council provides this fun, interactive calculator designed to count the calcium in various foods.
The Healthy Refrigerator Kids Quiz: Provided
by Open the Door to a Healthy Heart, this site features an interactive
refrigerator and asks questions, with nutritious foods as the answer
choices.
ZOOM Kitchen Chemistry:
Sponsored by PBS Kids, this site for fourth through sixth graders
offers an interactive virtual kitchen with games, puzzles, online
experiments, and recipes.
Food Detectives: This site features interactive games that teach kids how to properly handle foods to prevent the spread of bacteria.
