Who We Are:

The Somerset County Chamber of Commerce Wellness Council (SCCWC) is a network of health care providers, area businesses and organizations committed to creating and maintaining low cost, no cost wellness programs designed to support the pro active health care of their employees/ members, their families and those they serve in the community.

Our goal is to assist your small business in making the work place a healthier and ultimately safer place to work.
|
|
|
The Council has been established to promote Pro active care through the development and support of local business/organization wellness programs using evidence based approaches/strategies.

Environmental interventions which support healthy lifestyles

Policies and financial incentives that support healthy lifestyles

Frequent and simple prevention messages (news letter etc)

Health education classes, workshops, medical self care

Screenings,
HRA’s, and referral leading to risk factor follow up education and counseling

Applicant Responsibility:
|
To succeed an applicant needs to be willing to:

Have
ownership buy in and commitment to taking a pro-active care approach
through health promotion wellness
-
Conduct a short business/organization assessment of your current wellness offerings and employee interests (tool and assistance provided for you)

Review your current health and safety policies/procedures (we will help you)
-
Implement evidence based approaches/strategies and
-
Designate a contact person we can work with to lead your efforts.

Member Application Process:

Financial Obligation:
|
There
is a small annual fee of $2 per employee (max payment
$200) to support the council’s efforts. Checks made payable to Skowhegan Area Chamber of Commerce, Attention: Wellness Council.

Funding is provided with tobacco settlement money from the Fund for a Healthy Maine, through the Partnership For A Tobacco-Free Maine, Bureau of Health, Department of Human Services.
