ENHANCED FOOD STAMP NUTRITION EDUCATION FUNDING
The Maine Nutrition Network (MNN) in collaboration with the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) is announcing the Enhanced Food Stamp Nutrition Education Funding (Enhanced FSNE Funding) opportunity for Healthy Maine Partnerships (HMP) in Washington and Somerset counties to use one or two of the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) four core areas to improve the nutrition related behaviors of Maine’s Food Stamp Program (FSP) participants. SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION (SAMHSA)
SAMHSA has announced the availability of funds for grants to support community-based planning to develop a local plan for substance abuse treatment for American Indian, Alaskan Native and rural communities. Approximately $1.5 million in funding will be available in fiscal year 2003 to fund approximately 6 grants of not more than $250,000 each for a period of up to 18 months.     SAMHSA has created a manual to provide guidance to prospective grant applicants. The publication is divided into six modules that describe the grant-application preparation process.
